The Swincombe flock of Berrichon, being flock no. 6, is the oldest active flock in the country. With 100 breeding ewes it is probably the largest and most successful flock in the UK, holding the record prices for BOTH male and female Berrichons. The famous CONCORDE (imported 1986) - twice Paris Show Champion

STRATHALLAN ADMIRAL was very successful in the show ring winning at all 3 Royal Shows (I doubt any other Berrichon has ever done this!). He was a really large sheep who bred to type, giving us a top class line of females.

EUROSTAR (imported) was Paris Show Champion 2007 His show weight was 135kg at 15 months of age. A big smart ram with excellent feet and legs who bred well for us.

HENALLT JACK won many show championships, including Continental Champion and Reserve Interbreed Champion at the Royal Welsh Show 2010 He sired the Carcass champion, a pure Berrichon, beating all other breeds including Texels.

Several home-bred rams have been used over the years alongside the purchases. In 2002 two young Berrichon rams from two selected flocks were imported. EB1455 has already produced for us the breed’s record price and many show Champions.

With all this breeding behind the flock prospective purchasers can be sure they are getting the best of stock. Like our Texels, the Berrichons are bred on commercial principles for commercial farmers with the vast majority of the shearling rams sold straight from the farm to regular, repeat customers, who can usually choose from 40 shearling rams.
